Weekly wrap-up: February 23 - March 1

I managed to get a shocking amount of reading done considering I was on a road trip for the first half of the week. Not too shabby, eh? How has your week been?

Completed:
On the Fence - Kasie West: 4.5 stars. Soooo cute! I didn't realize it was sorta-kinda-a-little-bit of a companion to The Distance Between Us so I was pleasantly surprised to see some familiar faces. Full review to come.
Hysteria - Megan Miranda: 4 stars. Super creepy but very cool. Reminds me a lot of Brenna Yovanoff.
The Geography of You and Me - Jennifer E Smith: 4.5 stars. Lovely, just like I expected it. Jennifer writes young love as a product of perfectly random happenstance better than anyone.
#scandal - Sarah Ockler: 5 stars. This story is not going to age well considering pop culture and technology constantly evolve, but for now, it's a perfect capture of life in 2014. Excellent story with very relatable if not always likeable characters and, of course, an important Ockler moral or two. Full review to come.

Reread:
Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky #1) audiobook - Veronica Rossi & Bernadette Dunne: 2 stars. I really, really did not like Bernadette's voice. Her timber was so gravelly. She did okay boy voices (although they were not very unique or distinct), but her girl voices were pretty bad. Honestly, there were conversations between Aria and Perry where I got lost because I couldn't tell who was speaking. Also, her s's were to sharp. I felt like she was whistling at me. The first 20 minutes or so were so bad, I nearly turned it off. I got used to it, but I still wasn't impressed overall.

Currently Reading:
Grasshopper Jungle - Andrew Smith
Synchrony (Destiny #2) - Cindy Ray Hale

New to my bookshelf this week:
Library:
Nada! I haven't gone to the library since I got back.

Bought:
So this stack is a combination of: Amazon, two separate Barnes & Nobles, Little Shop of Stories, Parnassus Books, Books a Million, all three McKays franchises in Tennessee and two Half Price Books. All of these are for events, and if you're interested in signed copies of these books, you can contact the stores (Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, GA; Parnassus Books in Nashville, TN; B&N in Franklin, TN; Books-A-Million in Grapevine, TX; Half Price Books flagship in Dallas) to see if they have more copies for sale. Or...you could just wait for all the giveaways you all know I'm about to have (obviously) and try your luck with Rafflecopter.

 Amazon haul #1
missing duplicate copies of Ignite Me & Unite Me for my giveaway

 Amazon #2

 Books-A-Million

Barnes & Noble haul from both Dallas & Nashville
missing a copy of Shatter Me
The books on top were quite a surprise! Definitely
did some impulse buying. Kinda frustrating as I do
have copies of both Anna and Lola here in Dallas.
Buuuuut, c'est la vie! Can't really complain when
I now have a signed copy!

 Little Shop of Stories

 McKays Chattanooga
Great selection, but their prices were absurdly expensive
for a used bookstore, especially considering the prices at
McKays Knoxville, which you can see below.

 McKays Knoxville
See? A nearly-brand-new copy of Split Second
for $6 because, after all, it was still used. At the
Chattanooga store, it was $18! Ditto the $3 copy
of Vengeance, which I also found at the Chatt
store for $18. I am NOT goingto pay $18 for a
USED BOOK, no matter how new it actually is!
Good thing I saw these two first.

 McKays Nashville
Funny how the Mckays in the biggest city had the worst
selection out of the three. I'm surprised I found any books
at all there! I think it's because it's the newest and it's also
kind of on the outskirts of Nashy. Also, do you see the
love I have for Simon Pulse's Romantic Comedies?!

 Parnassus Books

Missing: Half Price Books Haul
Losing Lila by Sarah Alderson (I love how HPB gets British books!!)
Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

Giveaways & Contests:
Technically, this is from last week, but I finally got a *book shimmy* tote!

Events Attended:
2/24: Lovestruck Tour feat Robin Constantine, Megan Miranda, Megan Shepherd & Kasie West @ Decatur, GA (bonus appearance by Lauren Morrill)
2/25: Courtney C. Stevens's Faking Normal launch @ Nashville, TN (bonus appearances by Victoria Schwab, Ruta Sepetys, and Myra McEntire)
2/27: Abbi Glines's Take a Chance launch @ Grapevine, TX
3/1: Victoria Scott's Fire & Flood launch @ Dallas, TX
